The first unit looks at defining mental health and mental ill health, child mental health statistics, factors influencing a child’s mental health and child brain development.
In this unit we look at common types of mental ill health in children as well as their signs and symptoms. This includes looking at Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Panic Disorder, Phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Eating Disorders, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia.
In this unit we explore how we can help through talking about mental health. The unit focuses on the skills required to have a meaningful conversation, signposting and what to do if the person doesn’t want to talk.
In the final unit we focus on the way in which you can create a supportive environment to foster positive mental health as well as individual steps that can foster positive mental health.
