Construction (Design and Management) regulations 2015

Construction (Design and Management) regulations 2015 (CDM) place requirements for fire risk management on construction sites in 3 areas:

Emergency procedures

Fire emergency procedures must involve measures for raising the alarm, evacuation procedures and testing emergency procedures.

Emergency Routes and Exits

Fire emergency routes and exits must have:

  • A sufficient number of emergency routes and exits for the site
  • Exits routes must be as direct as possible to the identified safe place
  • Exit routes must be free from obstruction
  • Were necessary emergency light must be provided
  • Emergency route must be signed

Fire Detection and Fire-Fighting

This includes:

  • Easley accessible fire-fighting equipment, fire detection and fire alarm systems
  • Suitable maintenance and testing of fire-fighting, fire detection and fire alarm systems
  • Ensure suitable training is given to workers that are likely to use the equipment
