Planning the Task

Plan the task

Before starting the task, you should plan. This includes identifying the load and were the load needs to go. The weight of the load and how it could be held or positioned. It may be possible to test the load by applying gradual force and rocking the load over to one side. You may decide to get help to move the load.

Planning should also include planning the route we are going to travel. Make sure the rough is free from obstructions and trip hazards. It may be possible to travel a shorter distance or avoid hazards such as slopes or steps. You should also consider if there are suitable areas to rest along the way.

If the load is to heavy, too big or to hard for you to handle don’t move it, it’s not worth the risk.
